William Daniell, "Dunsky Castle, near Port Patrick, Wigtonshire" in "A Voyage round the Coasts of Scotland and the adjacent Isles" 1816

Geoff Uglow, "2Nos", 2008
The award comprises £10,000 for a project of his choosing and a solo Exhibition at Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh. It is one of the most prestigious awards in Scotland.
Following in the footsteps of 19th century artist and engraver William Daniell, Uglow will recreate his extensive journeys around Scotland’s coastline. Sketching 150 sites from Gretna and Orkney to North Berwick, Uglow will produce paintings and prints which form a visual record of the coast, in emulation of Daniell’s book of illustrations and engravings, published in 1814.
