Baltasar Lobo - Museo Nacional de Escultura, Valladolid

As Connaught Brown prepares to open its fourth solo exhibition of the Spanish artist Baltasar Lobo, the Museo Nacional de Escultura in Valladolid presents a series of Lobo's sculptures amongst classical works from its permanent collection within the 16th century palace, the Casa del Sol. The exhibition showcases 35 sculptures from this 20th century intruder in bronze, marble and plaster, that reveal Lobo's fascination and response to Ancient Greek myths. Some of these works, covering the entire oeuvre of Lobo's career from his arrival in Paris, where he was exiled in 1939, to his final years, have never been publicly exhibited before.
